RAIL PROFILE MEASUREMENT

3D cameras based on the triangulation principle provide continuous, non-contact rail profile scanning at regular 0.25 m intervals.

The system calculates and displays rail head wear and profile shape in real time.

Equivalent conicity can also be calculated during post-processing and evaluation.

Depending on the selected configuration, the system can measure either one rail or both rails simultaneously.

EXTERNAL DIFFERENTIAL GNSS RECEIVER

This option enables the use of a high-precision GNSS receiver with RTK differential corrections.

The system utilizes GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou satellite constellations. Through a mobile broadband connection, it receives real-time correction data from an online reference network.

The receiver continuously transfers precise positioning data to the KrabDroid measuring unit for logging, analysis and further processing.

KRABCAMERA

IP CAMERA

360° CAMERA

KrabCamera and IP Camera provide additional visual documentation during railway measurements.

The system captures images of rails, sleepers, track components and surrounding infrastructure. Each image is automatically synchronized with the track position and can be captured at user-defined intervals, typically between 1 and 10 meters.

KrabCamera operates on a standard Android smartphone and stores images locally. The IP Camera stores images directly within the measuring smartphone and can be folded onto the trolley after measurement for easy transport.

The 360° Camera captures a complete panoramic view around the trolley.

After the survey, all images can be downloaded together with measurement data and evaluated using KRAB 11 software.

IMU

Inertial Measuring Unit

The IMU option extends the capabilities of KRAB measuring trolleys by providing continuous real-time inertial measurements.

Using integrated gyroscopes and accelerometers, the system records movement in all directions and continuously evaluates track geometry parameters such as Alignment, Top and Cant.

The collected data supports the calculation of Real Geometry, Chord Geometry and D1, D2 or D3 wavebands.

DIMETIX

Option serves for operational checking of position

The DIMETIX option provides operational position verification during railway measurements.

The system combines a laser distance meter with an incremental rotary sensor to determine the two-dimensional position of objects located near the track.

During operation, the laser distance meter is manually aimed at the selected target while the system continuously records its position.

CORRUGATION MEASURING UNIT

KRAB S-Light can be equipped with an additional corrugation measuring unit, significantly expanding its measurement capabilities.

The corrugation sensor is housed in a dedicated enclosure mounted on the measuring arm of the trolley.

Measurement data can be processed and evaluated using Gekon 11 software, providing detailed corrugation analysis and reporting.

LPS Tower

Track Clearance Profile Scanner

LPS is an advanced track clearance scanning system that uses two rotating laser scanners to capture the complete clearance envelope.

The system detects tunnels, platforms, overhead wires, masts, vegetation and other nearby structures along the railway corridor.

Mounted on a stable trolley platform, the LPS Tower collects sufficient data to reconstruct a complete 3D model of the track environment and surrounding infrastructure.
