GEKON Modular
Model: GEKON Modular Corrugation Specialist
Contactless rail corrugation and rail wear measurement on vignole and grooved rails — 0.15 μm resolution, no track closure needed.
Contactless laser measurement of rail corrugation and rail wear on both vignole and grooved rails — operates at walking speed. Easy to lift off the track, so the line need not be closed. The data also supports 1/3 octave analysis for noise evaluation.

Overview & Specifications
Why Choose GEKON Modular
- Rail corrugation monitoring and grinding program planning are key objectives.
- You need a lightweight, compact trolley and the line has to stay open to traffic.
- Both vignole and grooved rail types need to be measured.
- Noise reduction and ride quality are maintenance priorities.
GEKON Modular is a rail corrugation measurement system for accurate contactless measurement of rail surface irregularities and rail wear. Laser sensors aimed vertically at the rail head, arranged one behind another along the rail on asymmetric chords, allow continuous inspection of both grooved and vignole rails and provide reliable data for maintenance planning and rail condition assessment. Optional dual rail profile scanners measure both rails at once.
Rail corrugation measurement plays a key role in modern railway maintenance. Early detection of corrugation helps infrastructure managers reduce noise, improve ride quality and extend rail service life — GEKON Modular makes that monitoring continuous, so maintenance decisions rest on measured data.
- 0.15 μm sensor resolution — extremely high precision for microgeometry
- Operates during traffic — easy to lift off the track, no track closure needed
- Grooved and vignole rails — one system for different networks
- Double configuration — measure both rails simultaneously with dual scanners
- Portable — all equipment fits in a wheeled transport box; easily dismountable
- Variable filters — configurable signal processing for different analysis needs
From Measurement to Report
Measurement runs are recorded with the RC Droid 3.0 Android application, which shows corrugation graphs and statistics live during the run. The recorded data is evaluated and reported in Gekon 11, including waveband, peak-to-peak, RMS, % of D signals and 1/3 octave analyses.
