KZV has added a new application to its Android portfolio. DistoDroid 3.0 is a data acquisition app developed for the T-METIX measuring trolley, combining laser distance measurement, track geometry acquisition, kilometer referencing and project data management on a single mobile platform.
Wireless operation in the field
DistoDroid communicates with the measuring system over Bluetooth, so operators measure on site and see results in real time. The software supports multiple coordinate system configurations and allows rapid adaptation to changing track conditions without physically repositioning the trolley, which simplifies work in curves, switches and other complex railway environments.
Comparison against earlier surveys
Measurements can be compared directly with previous inspection campaigns, design values and reference datasets. Differences are calculated automatically and displayed immediately, helping infrastructure managers detect changes and monitor how assets evolve over time.
Alongside point measurements, DistoDroid records track geometry continuously along the route. Geometry parameters are stored automatically and can be exported for further analysis and reporting.
