Vehicle-Mounted and Towed Measurement

KZV hardware and software for vehicle-mounted and towed measurement.

When it applies

Hand-pushed trolleys measure at walking speed. When the distance is long, or the track should be measured under load, the measuring system is towed behind a rail vehicle or mounted under it, and the results are followed on board.

Which system?

  • KRAB Heavy: track geometry and rail profiles, towed at up to 25 km/h, with an anti-derailment mechanism and the LPS clearance scanner as an option.
  • TURTLE: track geometry, rail profiles and clearance on tram and railway networks, towed at up to 30 km/h, with synchronized track images.
  • GEKON Big Foot: rail corrugation and rail profiles, towed at up to 15 km/h, passes switches without stopping.
  • MMD: a measuring undercarriage built for your vehicle, track geometry under load at about 40 km/h; proven on Czech measuring cars and on a towed measuring wagon in Finland.

Krab OnBoard on Windows records the data and shows the signals live in the vehicle; the evaluation follows in KRAB 11 and Gekon 11.
