What is measured
A switch is inspected at defined points, not only along the track: the geometry and the dimensions at each inspection point of the switch and crossing, together with the rail profiles. ASI (Automatic Switch Inspection), a function of KrabDroid 3.0 and KRAB 11, does this in the same run as the track geometry. The inspection points are defined per switch type in a template; KRAB 11 holds the databases of switch types and of the switches in your network and loads them into KrabDroid for the run. On the track the operator marks a single point, the start or the end of the switch, and the remaining points are located automatically, so the trolley does not stop. KRAB 11 then reports every inspection point with its value, limit and the corresponding rail profile.
Which system?
- KRAB S-LIGHT: the usual choice, 32 kg, with a Rope & Bowden arresting mechanism for safe passage of the crossing.
- KRAB Heavy: towed, for switch inspection as part of long measurement campaigns.
- KRAB U-LIGHT: 22 kg, for switches in metro systems, tunnels and places with difficult access.
