What is measured
The clearance profile (structure gauge) is the space that has to stay free around the track. Clearance measurement records everything around the track — tunnel walls, platform edges, signals, masts, vegetation — and checks it against the profile of your network. The catenary is part of the same picture: the position of the contact wire, its height and stagger, along the line.
Which system?
- LPS, the laser profile scanner: two rotating laser heads on KRAB Heavy or KRAB S-LIGHT scan the complete track envelope at walking speed while the trolley records track geometry. The LPS Evaluation Suite then finds breaches of the static and dynamic clearance profile, gives the contact wire position (height and stagger) with its registration points, and detects masts and platform edges automatically.
- T-METIX: a 23 kg trolley with a swiveling laser for the 2D position of individual objects, referenced from fixed points, with DistoDroid 3.0. The lighter choice for structure gauge checks, platform and bridge dimensions, and comparison with project drawings or earlier measurements.
- TURTLE: clearance together with geometry and rail profiles, towed at up to 30 km/h on tram and railway networks.
